8 Things To Do In Noosa This Christmas

Whether you’re planning on spending Christmas by the beach this year or you’re lucky enough to call Noosa home, there’s plenty to do in Noosa over the Christmas period.

With the festive season quickly approaching, we’ve pulled together some of our favourite ways to spend time together over the silly season.

1. Spend a day at the beach

A coastal Christmas isn’t complete without at least one beach day. Make the most of the sun, sand and surf at Noosa’s iconic Main Beach. The warm summer weather is perfect for swimming, sunbathing or enjoying a beach picnic. Just make sure to get in early to nab a park and secure yourself the perfect possie along the beach.

And don’t worry if you don’t come prepared. Noosa Surf Hire has you covered with a collection of luxury lounge chairs, umbrellas, stand up paddle boards, surfboards and more. Just look for the trailer on the beach in front of the Noosa Surf Club.

If you’d prefer a little more privacy, you can find several other picturesque bays dotted throughout the Noosa National Park. Stroll along the coastal track and pull up a spot at Little Cove, Tea Tree Bay or Granite Bay. Otherwise, you can park up around the point at Sunshine Beach or head a little further along to Sunrise Beach to completely escape the crowds.

2. Hike the Noosa National Park

There’s nothing better than indulging in your favourite food and drink over the silly season, but sometimes it’s nice to balance things out with a bit of physical activity. Enjoy a scenic walk through Noosa National Park. The coastal track offers stunning views, plus it’s a great spot to see local wildlife, like koalas, goannas, dolphins and ocean birds.

Make a day of it and pack a Christmas picnic. That way, you can relax at one of the park's many beautiful spots or take a dip at one of the spectacular bays nestled along the coast.

3. Finish your Christmas shopping along Hastings Street

If you’ve got a few more Christmas gifts to find before the big day, why not have a wander along Noosa’s iconic Hastings Street? The street is lined with boutique shops, cafes and restaurants, making it a perfect place for some holiday shopping and dining. With everything from clothing and homewares to jewellery and décor, you’re sure to find a few last-minute goodies to round off your Christmas shopping.

While you’re there, be sure to check out the Hastings Street Christmas Tree. It looks incredible at night, all lit up. And if you have the kids in tow, you can even book in for a photo with Santa on the beach.

4. Check out the Eumundi Markets

If you’re keen to head off the beaten track and explore some local arts and crafts, you can’t go past the Original Eumundi Markets. Located a quick 20-minute drive from the heart of Noosa, the markets are easy to get to by car or public transport.

Open every Wednesday and Saturday from 7.30am until 2pm, there’s plenty to see, do, eat and drink at the markets. And with plenty of homemade, unique and original goods, you’re sure to find something special for Christmas. Plus, they’ll often put on festive themes and live music during the holiday season.

5. Check out the Annual Peregian Beach Christmas Carols

Pack a picnic and head to Peregian for the Annual Peregian Beach Christmas Carols. Taking place in December at the Peregian Beach Park, the Carols are the perfect place to get into the Christmas spirit.

Enjoy live music and carols from local musicians, kids' entertainment, handmade stalls and plenty of food options. And, to top it all off, sky diving Santa will drop onto Peregian Beach for a visit around 6pm so long as the weather holds out.

Avoid the queues and jump online to grab your ticket. You can choose from a family contribution or an individual contribution. You can even catch the free shuttle bus in to avoid having to find a park.

This year will mark the 60th Annual Peregian Beach Christmas Carols, so it’s sure to be bigger and better than ever.

6. Escape to the Noosa hinterland

Take a drive to the hinterland to explore charming towns like Montville and Maleny. These villages offer boutique shopping, galleries and delicious local food, making them an ideal spot for some more last-minute Christmas shopping. During the holiday season, many of these small townships embrace the festive spirit with decorations and Christmas events.

7. Noosa Sunset Cruise

For a quintessential Noosa beach club experience, you can’t go past a Noosa Sunset Cruise aboard the MV Catalina. Not your average sunset event, Catalina hosts weekly DJ’s and ensures we get prime position at Lake Cootharaba for sunset. Departing every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening, this cruise is the best way to see the sunset over the Noosa River and hinterland with a cocktail in hand and house grooves in the background.

8. Noosa River Lunch Cruise

If you’d prefer a little less party while cruising the Noosa River, then a Noosa River Lunch Cruise is the perfect experience for you. Indulge in a seasonal two-course lunch complete with main and dessert as you take in the waterfront views from a 20m catamaran (yes, a boat!). Enjoy expertly crafted cocktails and mellow beats from our incredible in-house DJs during this unique two-hour long lunch experience.

Both the Noosa Sunset Cruise and River Lunch Cruise are proudly kid-free (18+), so you can enjoy some well-deserved adult time amongst the Christmas chaos.

With so much to see and do in Noosa during the holiday season, it’s no wonder it’s a crowd favourite among tourists. With warm weather and a laid-back festive spirit, Noosa offers a unique and relaxing Christmas experience.
