Ways To Celebrate Competing In The Noosa Triathlon

Noosa Main Beach during Noosa Triathlon

Each year, athletes and spectators from around the world flock to Noosa to experience the magic of the Noosa Triathlon. Taking place over five action-packed days, the Noosa Tri encompasses 11 different events, including the world-famous Triathlon.

As the biggest Olympic distance triathlon in the world, this iconic sports event is consistently ranked among the top ten triathlons globally by athletes. And while the Triathlon itself is often the main drawcard for most athletes and their support team, there are plenty of local delights worth exploring once you’ve crossed the finish line.

So, if you’ve run your race and you’re looking for ways to celebrate like a Sunny Coast local, we’ve pulled together five ways to commemorate your achievement in true Noosa fashion.

1. Soak up the sun

Sure, you might have taken a dip at Noosa’s iconic Laguna Bay during the swim leg of the Tri, but chances are you didn’t get to truly savour this picture-perfect beachside locale. Take some time out at Main Beach to enjoy the sun, sand and surf. It's the perfect spot to unwind and soak in the spectacular views.

For those with some gas left in the tank, you could try exploring the Noosa River or the Everglades by kayak or paddle board. But, if the swim has really done a number on you, there’s hobie cats, jetskis and pontoon boats to hire all along Gympie Terrace. Whether you’re paddling, putting or powering along, there’s a bunch of fun ways to see more of the area and enjoy the sun and warm water.

2. Indulge in some retail therapy

Famous for it’s boutique retail stores, cafes, restaurants and bars, a stroll along Hastings Street may be more your pace after the race. Treat yourself to an abundance of retail therapy, followed by a stop or two for a drink and some people-watching at Noosa Beach House, the newly renovated El Capitano, or enjoy an ice cream on the beach as you watch the waves roll in.

If you’re keen to explore a little further afield, the Eumundi Markets are worth a visit. Just a short drive from Noosa, the Eumundi Markets are open on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Offering a wide variety of arts, crafts and food, these iconic markets can be easily accessed by public transport or car.

3. Treat yourself to some rehab

It’s no surprise to pull up a little sore after the race, but you’re spoilt for choice if you’re looking for the best places to rehab. Check yourself in at TH7 Body Labs right in Noosa Junction for massage, a hot/cold Nordic cycle or compression therapy for tired legs, or head over to the Integrated Recovery Centre where you can find on-site physios alongside sauna and even a gym for some light recovery.

But for something a little more luxurious, and let’s be honest probably more deserving after your huge tri effort why not try Ikatan Spa? Located on a private estate in Doonan (just out of Noosa) you’ll find a Balinese styled paradise offering the very best pampering and massage treatments you’ll find anywhere.  As Noosa’s premier day spa there’s only one problem, you’re not going to want to leave.

Some spas around town even offer yoga, so you can tack on a class to your massage to get a good stretch in.

4. Check out the local restaurant scene

Noosa is renowned for its vibrant food scene, so why not nourish your post-race body with a meal (or a few) at one of Noosa’s iconic restaurants? Sample high quality local seafood at Sails or Ricky’s, try casual and more refined asian flavours at Light Years, Bang Bang or Sum Yung Guys or hit get amongst your favourite natural wines and small plates at Theo’s Social Club. Just be sure to make a reservation in advance, Noosa’s restaurants, much like the Tri itself, book out way ahead of time, especially over the Tri weekend.

If you’re looking for riverfront vibes, you can’t beat 250 Grammi for authentic Italian and spritz or take your pick for a much-deserved champagne or a cocktail.

Which leads us to our final recommendation, and the most fun you can have out of lycra Tri weekend….

5. Enjoy the after party

We’ve saved the best until last… What better way to celebrate your race in the Noosa Tri than partaking in another quintessentially Noosa experience with an afternoon aboard MV Catalina?

As Noosa’s only beach club operating aboard the most iconic vessel (that’s a boat!), this is an after party you won’t want to miss. With a stunning river backdrop, flowing cocktails and live DJ’s entertainment, you can’t go past a cruise aboard the Catalina to close out your Noosa Tri experience.

This year we’re partnering again with Noosa based and internationally renowned apparel brand WYN Republic to bring competitors a stunning sunset cruise after party. So, swap your lycra for linen and join us aboard the MV Catalina for Noosa’s best Triathlon after party. Post race high, cocktails in hand and that golden hour glow as you dance the rest of your energy away aboard Catalina for sunset.

Our last Noosa Tri after party sold out in weeks, so be sure to secure your ticket soon to avoid disappointment.
